About Course

The B.Tech in Electrical Engineering is a four-year course (two semesters per year) that imparts students with thorough knowledge of the electrical engineering principles. Electrical circuits, power systems, control systems, electronics, and electromagnetics are just a few of the different subjects covered in the course. Students learn the skills necessary to design, analyse, and optimise electrical systems with these foundational topics.

Lab work and hands-on projects give students the practical knowledge and experience, which help them understand how electrical systems function and are developed. In addition to leadership, problem-solving, and innovation, the program prepares students for roles in power generation, electronics, automation, and other industries. Upon graduation, students are ready to make meaningful contributions to the design and management of electrical systems in a broad range of industries, including power distribution, advanced automation, and electronics.

FAQ

What does the qualification cover?

A B.Tech in Electrical Engineering includes wide-ranging subjects such as electrical circuits, power systems, control systems, electronics, electromagnetics and instrumentation. It incorporates the use of theories along with practical sessions in the form of lab sessions and project work.

Common pay packages initially offered to Electrical Engineering graduates graduating from universities in India usually begin at ₹3 lakhs per annum. There is a middle salary range of ₹5 to ₹6 lakhs per annum based on the position, organisation, and place. There is always room for salary rise in consideration of the years of service and/or when one has specialised in areas such as power systems or automation.

The basic technical skill are the ability to design electrical circuits, understanding of power and control systems, electronics, and instrumentation together with simulation and analysis of related technology.

Candidates require qualification from their 12th grade for admission to a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering course, mathematics and science being compulsory subjects. They also have to write an entrance examination such as JEE Main, MHT-CET, or any other entrance deemed necessary by the respective college or university.

Positions that are offered include electrical design engineer, power systems engineer, control systems engineer as well as automation engineer. Power generation, manufacturing, especially electrical appliances and industrial automation are among the jobs that graduates can do.

The course is usually evaluated by written tests, practical worksheets, assignments, projects and presentations. Assessment, individually or combined with coursework and/or practical work also through labs also forms part of the continuous methods used to assess the performance of students.

Students can benefit from certifications; some of the useful certifications include: certified energy manager, project management professional, electrical systems design certification, and professional engineer’s licence.

The occupations that attract greater pay are the ones that require knowledge of power systems, automation and control systems, renewable power systems and management of electrical projects.
